About the Boss
A: My Boss is very approachable. He believes in encouraging his employees to better themselves and quality of their work.
B:Really ? My Boss never even speaks to me.
A:That's terrible, Last week my boss reviewed my performance over the last the 6 months and gave me some constructive feedbacks on how I can improve some of my cooking techniques and time management skills.
B:Wow, so you were trouble.
A:No, he just gave me some suggestions and an incentive.
B:What was the incentive?
A:If I managed to get all my preparation done on time from now on, he said he would give me a raise. I've been on time every day this week.
Approachable: 平易近人的；
believe in doing sth:相信做某事
constructive: 建设性的
incentive: 激励
raise VS rise
区别就是raise是及物动词，rise是不及物。
raise最常用的有：
1. move or lift sth to a hight position, place or level 举起，使升高
例：Can you raise your arm above your head?
这个常用搭配有raise one's hand/eyebrows/voice etc.
2. to increase an amount,number or level增加，提高（数量、数字或水平）
例：We have no plans to raise taxes at present.
3. to look after your children and help them grow 抚养
这个就常用raise one's child，和bring up意思一样
rise常用这几个：
1. to increase in number, amount or value （在数值、量或价值方面）增加
例：House prices are likely to rise towards the end of this year.
今年年底房价可能会上涨。
这个和raise的区别就在于，rise是东西或价格自己升高时用，而raise是人为提高某物的价格、费用或数额时用。
2. to go upwards or to appear in the sky
这个就常搭sun/moon/star/sea level/smoke etc.表示太阳/月亮/星星升起，海平面上升，烟升起这之类的。
3. 还有作“起立” “地位提高” “声音传来” 这几个意思常用些。
总的来说，一是及物不及物的区别；二是raise主要是人为的一些动作，rise是东西本身的变动。这个记各自的主要搭配就可以了。
